Tri-State Race for Parkinson’s
Tri-State
Parkinson’s Wellness Chapter of the APDA teamed up with
Mojo Running of
West Chester to launch the first
annual
Parkinson’s 5K Steady Strides Race
on the morning of Saturday, June 6, 2009. The race took place
under sunny skies and superb conditions at beautiful VOA Park off
Cox Road in West Chester.
One hundred and forty runners were joined by more than a
hundred walkers. Teva Neuroscience generously supported the event as a
corporate sponsor. Proceeds from the race will benefit the
Chapter’s efforts to assist individuals and families in the battle
against “PD,” as well as support national Parkinson’s Disease research
through APDA.
There are an estimated 1.5 million Americans—and thousands in the
Tri-State area—suffering from Parkinson’s, which challenges patients
and families alike. The APDA’s longtime mission for patients and
families is “to ease the burden and find a cure.”
